Firearms:
Introduction:
The SOLANO’S Employee Handbook states, under the section titled
Prohibited Conduct, “Carrying firearms or other dangerous weapons on
company premises at any time”. The purpose of this document is
to clarify that policy.
Discussion:
SOLANO’S does not require or condone that any employee use a firearm
in the course of his/her duties as an employee. The company
does recognize, however, that individuals have the right to obtain a
concealed carry permit from an applicable law enforcement
organization. To obtain such a permit, the individual receives
additional training and vetting above and beyond that associated
with purchasing a weapon.
Policy:
Employees who are licensed to carry a concealed weapon may carry
that weapon on company premises at their discretion. A
copy of their concealed carry permit must be on file in their
personnel folder in HR. SOLANO’S accepts no responsibility for
any purposeful or accidental acts involving a concealed carry weapon
on company premises. Allowing an individual to have a weapon
on the premises or in any company vehicle does not imply that the
employee is expected or allowed to use that weapon in the course of
performing their duties as an employee.
