Gifts:
Purpose:
To establish a uniform policy relating to the exchange of gifts
between SOLANO’S employees and our customers and suppliers.
Scope/application:
This policy applies to all SOLANO’S INC. employees, permanent, part
time and temp (contract).
Business environment:
It is recognized that it is common business practice, in the retail
sales environment, to provide to customers and to receive from
suppliers, certain gifts in the form of products, meals and
entertainment, and items of nominal value.
Our policy:
Giving of gifts
Specific individuals, Store Managers and Outside Sales personnel,
are authorized to provide selected customers with reasonable
business lunches and dinners, jobsite food and beverages,
advertising identified clothing such as hats and shirts and
incidentals such as pens, pencils or other low value items. No
product offered for sale by Solano’s may be given as gift or at a
special discount without prior approval of the CEO.
Receiving gifts
Employees may receive specific gifts from suppliers as defined
herein. Business lunches or dinners, food platters to be
shared by a group of employees, advertising marked apparel, and low
value items such as pens, zippered folders etc. may be accepted.
Vendor supplied products are not to be accepted by an employee as a
personal gift. For example, a “buy 10 get one free” promotion
or offer does not mean that the “free” item may be kept by the
employee. It is property of SOLANO’S INC.
Employees are not allowed to accept
sales performance incentives (SPIFs) from suppliers or their sales
representatives. Such gifts are property of SOLANO’S INC.
If an individual must be named to receive the SPIF, the CEO shall
represent the corporation for this purpose and he may distribute
such gifts at his discretion.
Special condition
To avoid any possible legal issues (kick back laws), giving to or
receiving any gift from a government employee is prohibited.
