Orientation Briefings:
The following figure displays the various steps taken in obtaining new employees and providing them an orientation program. The purpose of the program is to assimilate new personnel into our organization as knowledgeable team members as rapidly as possible, providing them with the information they require in a formal, structured manner.
Orientation briefings take place on days 1, 6, 11 and 16 of the new employee's work schedule. Day 1's briefing is performed by the employee's manager while the remaining briefings may be conducted by the manager or his delegate. The general content of each briefing is indicated on the figure. A more detailed checklist is provided to the briefer(s) for their use. Upon completion of the four briefings, a test is taken by the employee and any misunderstandings as to the content of the briefings answered. On or about the 30th day of work, the employee, his manager and a peer employee attend a luncheon to discuss issues/questions that the employee may have about SOLANO'S, it's policies and procedures.
